Keep Your Face Looking Younger With Facial Exercises

As we grow older, many of us, men and women alike, begin to give serious consideration to anti aging skin care. We start paying more attention to the many products and processes available to reduce the signs of facial aging.  Although they have been around for a while now, many are unaware that using facial exercises as a natural alternative to these more popular, but invasive products and procedures.

Most products and processes available on the market have temporary results. Face lifting creams last a few hours at best. Most filler and injectable solutions for reducing wrinkles will need to be repeated every few months.Plastic surgery, the most invasive of all, only has an expected life span of ten years.  All of these methods fail to address the underlying cause of aging facial skin.

Everyone knows that if we don’t have regular exercise, our muscles will lose flexibility and tone.  Why then do we immediately reject the idea that facial exercises will provide the same benefit for our faces along with a natural anti aging skin care alternative?

Unlike our arms and legs, which we are used to exercising, most of us don’t think of facial muscles as ones that require exercise. Not everyone has the same number of facial muscles, but on average, there are approximately 43 muscles in the face.

We are familiar with the concept that muscles attach to bone at both ends, however, in the case of facial muscles, that is not always the case.  Some facial muscles attach at one end to bone and to another muscle at the opposite end.Facial muscles provide the foundation of the face and give us the ability to project a variety of emotions and expressions.

Facial exercises provide ‘resistance training’ for the muscles in your face.Resistance training builds muscle fiber and improves muscle tone. The face receives a natural lift because the building of muscle fiber also shortens the muscle fiber.Watch your face in the mirror as you tense the muscles of your face to get an idea of the expected effects.

Because the face is the only place in the body where muscles are not necessarily anchored to bone at both ends, we have the potential to find indents, folds, and furrows, which are more commonly referred to as wrinkles.  Wrinkles, acknowledged as a classic sign of aging, even deep wrinkles can often be reduced and in some cases eliminated with facial exercises.  These exercises help release skin that has become ‘tacked down’ to underlying tissue over time.As the muscle fibers develop and grow stronger, facial skin is lifted and smoothed.

The overall health of facial skin is improved as facial exercises increase its ability to absorb moisture. Lack of moisture retention by facial skin is considered to be a contributing factor to how quickly facial skin ages.  Many people notice a slight burning sensation, particularly around the lips, when they first begin facial exercises as fluid is pumped back into the tissues.  In addition, facial exercises increase the flow of oxygen and blood to the surrounding skin helping to nourish the skin.

So there you have it.Facial exercises provide you with a natural non-invasive option to assist you in your anti aging skin care for your face.
